GROUP 1 MUNITIONS RESPONSE AREAS

Parker Flats MRA

 

Located in the central portion of the former Fort Ord, Parker Flats MRA is bounded by Gigling Road to the north, CSUMB campus to the west, the Interim Action Ranges to the south, and the Fort Ord National Monument property and additional former Fort Ord property to the east.   Parker Flats MRA consists of Army Phase 1 property totaling 698 acres and the Phase 2 properties being cleaned up under the ESCA program totaling 482 acres. Seaside MRA

Located in the southwestern portion of the former Fort Ord, Seaside MRA is bounded by City of Seaside and General Jim Moore Boulevard to the west, the historic impact area to the east, and Eucalyptus Road to the north.  It comprises a total of 419 acres.  For details on the past military uses and the ESCA RP cleanup,see the Group 1 MRA Module and the Group 1 Frequently Asked Questions. Beginning in March approximately 46 acres in the southern portion of Seaside will undergo additional quality assurance review and data collection.  Further information can be found on slides 7 and 8 of this recent ESCA RP presentation.

 

A Proposed Plan for the Group 1 properties Parker Flats and Seaside MRAs was released in September 2017 and a Record of Decision was signed August 2018. The Land Use Control Implementation Plan / Operation & Maintenance Plan was issued in February 2019.
